Background

Ensuring school security is a top priority for students and staff. Effective and seamless communication is a key component of a 360-degree safety strategy. Leveraging technology to maximize operational efficiency and risk mitigation efforts can enhance school security and create a better learning environment. A reliable and timely way to communicate with students, teachers, and staff is crucial, especially during emergencies.

Objectives

After analyzing the reality of the school, Zycoo identified the following objectives for the project:

• Improve operational efficiency and security levels by providing reliable and timely information for real-time decision-making. Teachers must give clear and calming instructions to prevent confusion and panic and ensure that teachers and students take the most appropriate action to remain safe and secure.
• Achieve efficient communication to keep staff and students informed, manage daily operations, and offer timely assistance to the school community.
• Centralize the management of the system to support full remote monitoring and control of all components, easy deployment, and concise configuration.

Solution

To tick all the boxes for this school, Zycoo tailored the solution and provided the talk-back speaker system to enhance communication and safety in terms of the objectives. The Zycoo IP Audio Solution built a two-way communication bridge between teachers and staff to react and respond to any incidents quickly.

This solution is based on Zycoo IP Audio Solution, an all-in-one communication system that is based on SIP protocol, streaming media, and MQTT IoT technologies. From hardware to software, Zycoo not only delivers a fully reliable solution that ensures seamless communication, but also a two-way speaker, integrated intercom system, and IP-based Public Address into a centralized system.

The solution includes the following components: SW15 Network Cabinet Speaker, BM11 Mic w/ Push-to-talk Button, SH30 Network Horn Speaker, and IP Audio Server IAS-L100.

1. SW15 Network Cabinet Speaker: Installed in the classroom, main office, hallway, and other indoor environments to provide critical information to teachers and students. Paging, notification broadcasting, music playback, and easy connection with the BM11 to achieve talk-back functionality are all available.   
2. BM11 Mic w/ Push-to-talk Button: When the BM11 is connected with the SW15 speaker, this accessory allows teachers to initiate calls to the predetermined device with the press-to-talk feature. It also performs preset tasks like pre-recorded or manual announcements, emergency alerts, and background music playback.
3. SH30 Network Horn Speaker: With the IP-65 rating design and built-in class-D amplifier, it is used for school assemblies, paging, and notification broadcasting in noisy large spaces like gymnasiums and outdoor environments like the school track.
4. IP Audio Server IAS-L100: This hardware server with the pre-installed ZYCOO IP Audio Center system provides the out-of-the box feature to ready to use. It is set in the school’s server room to work with Zycoo network speakers and other equipment to realize IP audio endpoints auto-provisioning and centralized management, notifications, scheduled announcement, emergency broadcasting, and more.

Ultimately, Zycoo's unified IP audio solution improved school security, bolstered operational efficiency and faculty collaboration, and reduced the time and labor spent on communications tasks. The solution enhanced communication and safety in the school, ensuring the well-being of students.
